Soon, Mick Schumacher will drive an Alpine Formula 1 vehicle on a test drive at the Circuit Paul Ricard.

In a thrilling turn of events, Mick Schumacher is set to make his Formula 1 test debut for Alpine. The young German driver, who last competed in F1 in 2022, has been part of Mercedes as a reserve driver and is currently racing in Alpine’s Hypercar line-up in the World Endurance Championship.

Alpine, on the hunt for a replacement for Esteban Ocon who will depart at the end of the season, has several potential candidates in mind. Among them, Carlos Sainz has emerged as a strong contender. However, Schumacher’s name has also been prominently featured on Alpine’s shortlist. Team principal Bruno Famin confirmed last month that Schumacher is indeed being considered for a spot on the team.

Schumacher will get his chance to shine on July 3, when he takes part in a test session at the Circuit Paul Ricard. He will be driving the A522, the car that helped Alpine secure fourth place in the Constructors’ Championship during the 2022 season.

This test is crucial for Schumacher, who was the 2020 Formula 2 champion, as it provides an opportunity to prove his mettle and potentially secure a seat with Alpine. He will not be alone at the circuit; Jack Doohan, a promising talent from Alpine’s F1 academy, will also be present. Doohan, who has already participated in a free practice session with Alpine this year, is eager to demonstrate his readiness to step up should the team need him.

As the F1 season progresses, these developments add a layer of excitement and anticipation, with fans eagerly watching to see who will ultimately join Alpine’s roster for 2025.
