Ducati’s Satellite Team Pramac Faces Uncertain Future Amid Rider Departures and Contract Speculations
Ducati faces the genuine possibility of losing their satellite team, Pramac, in 2025. The uncertainty surrounding Pramac’s future has persisted throughout the year but intensified recently with Marc Marquez’s decision to join the factory Ducati team next season.
Ducati had hoped to retain both Marquez and Jorge Martin, providing Pramac with a competitive lineup. However, Martin’s move to Aprilia has left Pramac without a top-tier rider, and their contract with Ducati is set to expire this year.
“The risk is real,” Ducati general manager Gigi Dall’Igna told Sky Italia regarding Pramac’s potential departure. “The entire motorbike world hopes Pramac will pursue a different path from Ducati. However, it would be a personal and sporting disappointment as Pramac and Paolo Campinoti have been integral to our success.”
While Pramac initially indicated their intent to continue with Ducati by stating they would run GP25 Ducatis next year, Ducati’s sporting director Mauro Grassilli clarified that no contract had been signed yet.
Pramac’s current deal with Ducati reportedly includes a clause that allows the satellite team to stay for two more years if activated before July 31. Despite this, the clause remains unactivated.
Yamaha has expressed interest in adding Pramac as a satellite team for 2025, offering a lucrative deal. Although Pramac’s future remains uncertain, it is evident that they will need to adjust to a lineup without Marquez or Martin next year.
Pramac’s current championship leader, Jorge Martin, may be joined by Moto2 talent Fermin Aldeguer, who is set to join a Ducati MotoGP team next year.
