Oscar Piastri celebrated his first podium finish of the season at the Monaco Grand Prix, securing P2 after a challenging race where he couldn’t overtake winner Charles Leclerc.

Oscar Piastri clinched a thrilling podium finish at the Monaco Grand Prix, showcasing resilience and skill as he battled alongside pole-sitter Charles Leclerc. Starting from the front row, Piastri maintained close proximity to Leclerc’s Ferrari, with both teams locked in a fierce contest throughout the race.

Despite facing pressure from Carlos Sainz and teammate Lando Norris in the latter stages, Piastri maintained his composure, securing an impressive second place finish. Reflecting on the challenging race, Piastri expressed his delight at achieving his strongest result of the season so far.

“It was a tricky race,” Piastri remarked. “The pace at the beginning was incredibly slow. I had one little half look before the tunnel, but didn’t have a small enough car to fit into the gap.”

Acknowledging the dominance of Leclerc and Ferrari, Piastri praised their exceptional performance throughout the weekend. “Charles has been mega all weekend… it would have taken probably the best lap of my life to out-do them,” he added.

Meanwhile, Norris finished fourth in a race heavily influenced by strategic decisions. Despite the challenges, Norris remained optimistic about McLaren’s performance and his own consistent results, which have propelled him to third place in the drivers’ standings.

“We are gaining more confidence in every race,” Norris stated. “The team are doing a fantastic job… We’re up there, we’re in with a chance in case something happens.”

With McLaren’s impressive showing in Monaco and Norris’ ascent in the championship standings, both drivers are poised to continue their strong form as they aim for further success in the upcoming races.
