In a thrilling shift for the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, Swiss driver Nico Mueller is set to join the Andretti Formula E team for the 2024/25 season. As the series gears up for its GEN3 Evo era, Mueller’s arrival marks a significant change for Andretti, with the 32-year-old replacing Norman Nato and partnering with the reigning Season 9 World Champion, Jake Dennis.

Mueller’s excitement about joining Andretti is palpable. “I’m very excited to join the Andretti Formula E Team,” he enthuses. “It’s a team that has seen success from the very beginning of the championship, particularly in the GEN3 era with their partnership with Porsche Motorsport.” Mueller sees working with Dennis as a valuable opportunity, aiming to leverage his teammate’s championship-winning experience. “I’m going to give it my very best to contribute to the team’s success and hopefully aim for some podiums and my first Formula E win – that’s the target. I can’t wait to get going.”

Mueller’s decision to move to Andretti follows a strong finish to Season 10, where he secured a streak of four top-six finishes, showcasing his ability to excel even when his machinery wasn’t the strongest. His performance in the Drivers’ World Championship was commendable, especially when compared to his former ABT CUPRA teammate, Lucas di Grassi. In 46 Formula E starts, Mueller has claimed one podium (Valencia, Season 7), set two fastest laps, and led 13 laps, underscoring his promise and potential.

Beyond Formula E, Mueller’s career boasts impressive achievements. He has served as an official Audi factory driver, clinched victory at the prestigious Nürburgring 24h in 2015, and contended for the DTM title twice (2019, 2020), with nine race wins and 24 podiums. His diverse racing background extends to the World Endurance Championship, World Rallycross, GT Series, and Stock Car racing, highlighting his versatility and depth as a driver.

For Andretti, Mueller’s addition comes at a pivotal time. The team experienced a mixed bag in Season 10, securing one win (Dennis, Diriyah), one pole position (Dennis, Berlin), five podiums, and finishing fifth in the Teams’ World Championship—the highest among customer teams. As Andretti embarks on its 11th season, the team is eager to leverage Mueller’s skills and experience to elevate their performance.

Michael Andretti, CEO and Chairman of Andretti Global, expresses high expectations for the upcoming season. “We have high expectations for Season 11, and we’re confident that adding a driver of Nico’s caliber will help us get results. His experience and success in Formula E and other racing series will be key as we continue to enhance our driver roster.”

Team Principal Roger Griffiths adds, “We are delighted to welcome Nico to the Andretti Formula E team for Season 11. His familiarity with electric racing is proven, and he has shown he can deliver strong results across a variety of Formula E tracks. We look forward to him lining up alongside Jake Dennis at the opening race in Brazil.”

As Andretti Formula E steps into a new season with Mueller and Dennis, the team is poised for an exciting chapter, blending fresh talent with seasoned expertise to make a formidable push for victory in the all-electric racing series.
