Despite the shared sponsorship with Red Bull, KTM confirms no plans to sign Marquez, while Ducati’s factory team reshuffle leaves the future of the star rider in question.
KTM has unequivocally denied any plans to sign Marc Marquez for the upcoming season, despite long-standing speculation linking the star rider to the manufacturer, with both sharing Red Bull as a significant sponsor.
Rumors about Marquez’s uncertain future beyond 2025 have stirred the MotoGP paddock, but KTM’s team manager Francesco Guidotti made it clear that the team is not pursuing his signature. “Marc is not available,” Guidotti stated in an interview with TNT Sports during the Italian MotoGP.
Meanwhile, Marquez’s position at Ducati remains uncertain. Ducati is contemplating its 2025 lineup, with Marquez, currently with Gresini, and Pramac’s Jorge Martin both being potential candidates to replace Enea Bastianini in the factory team. Sky Italia reported that Ducati’s initial plan was to promote Martin to the factory team and transfer Marquez to Pramac with a factory-spec bike. However, Marquez dismissed the possibility of joining Pramac, declaring that it “is not an option.”
In response to the uncertainty, Ducati’s sporting director Mauro Grassilli has floated the idea of introducing a fifth GP25 next season. This move could allow Marquez to stay with Gresini while receiving upgraded machinery, though it remains to be seen if Ducati will implement this plan.
As for KTM, the team has secured the services of Pedro Acosta for the 2025 season, pairing him with Brad Binder. Acosta confirmed his future with KTM, stating, “I’ll be with Brad, he’s under contract,” in an interview with Motorsport.
Speculation also emerged from a Spanish newspaper suggesting that KTM’s satellite team, Tech3 GASGAS, might offer Marquez a factory-spec bike for the next season, maintaining their association with Red Bull. However, Acosta’s response to this rumor was non-committal: “I don’t know, ask [KTM boss Pit Beirer]. I don’t know if that’s out of the question. At the end of the day, this Ducati thing looks like a soap opera. Every weekend we have a different answer but nobody knows anything.”
With the MotoGP rider market in flux, the only certainty is the ongoing drama and speculation surrounding Marc Marquez’s future.
