India’s Kavin Quintal Shines with Top-10 Debut at 2024 JuniorGP World Championship

In a remarkable debut, India’s Kavin Quintal soared into the top 10 of the Stk European class during the second round of the 2024 FIM JuniorGP World Championship, held at the esteemed Circuito do Estoril near Lisbon, Portugal.

Riding for the Fifty Motorsport team, Quintal achieved a time of 23:19.001s over 11 laps, finishing a mere 34.866 seconds behind the victor, Spain’s Adrian Rodriguez from SF Racing, and only 16.092 seconds from Lorenzo Della Porta of Yamaha GV Racing, the reigning championship frontrunner and 2019 Moto3 titleholder.

Despite a challenging start, where an out-lap crash in qualifying relegated the 18-year-old to the 30th starting position, Quintal demonstrated resilience and skill. The race, marred by a red flag due to worsening rain conditions on the second lap, saw Quintal already advancing to 19th place.

Masterfully handling the slippery track, Quintal overtook competitors one after another, ultimately securing a ninth place at the finish line, standing out among 36 contenders.

The stock race category serves as a crucial gateway to the Moto2 and JuniorGP World Championships, marking a new FIM initiative to nurture junior talent on the path to MotoGP glory.

Quintal, who began his racing journey at 13, made history in 2018 by becoming the youngest point-earner in the FMSCI Indian National Motorcycle Championship. He transitioned to the Honda Talent Cup in 2019 and made his mark internationally at the Asia Talent Cup in 2020. Representing India, he achieved two top-10 placements in the 2023 Asian Road Racing Championships.

Looking ahead, Quintal is gearing up for the third round of the JuniorGP Stk, set to take place in Barcelona from May 16-19.
