The promoter of the Indian MotoGP has affirmed that this year’s race is “very much on” despite swirling rumours suggesting otherwise. These doubts arose from reports of late payments and speculations that the event could be replaced by the postponed Kazakhstan round.

A source close to the Indian MotoGP revealed that any outstanding payments would be settled once the ‘Model Code of Conduct’—which regulates the use of public funds during the General Election—is lifted on June 4. This position has been reiterated by Pushkar Nath Srivastava, CEO of Fairstreet, the Indian MotoGP co-promoter.

“The race is very much on. These are just rumours floating around. All of the contractual obligations will be met in June,” Srivastava assured.

Additionally, Dorna, the organizing body, has reportedly received written assurance from the State Government confirming that the payments will be made following the June 4 date.

The Indian MotoGP is slated to take place from September 20-22 at the Buddh International Circuit. Meanwhile, Kazakhstan’s debut race, initially set for June 14-16 but postponed due to flooding, has been rescheduled to a later date in 2024.
