In a thrilling showdown during Sunday’s qualifying session at the Berlin-Tempelhof Formula E circuit, Jake Dennis of Andretti clinched pole position, outshining the previous day’s winner Nick Cassidy of Jaguar who settled for second place on the starting grid. Adding to the excitement, Max Günther emerged as the highest-ranking German in sixth position, closely followed by compatriot Pascal Wehrlein.
The action-packed qualifying unfolded with Group A taking to the track first, where the two Jaguar drivers showcased their prowess, dominating the initial stages of the session. Lucas di Grassi and Max Günther also displayed strong performances, securing their spots in the duel phase. However, it was Cassidy who ultimately set the fastest lap time, with Günther closely trailing in second. Notably, Edo Mortara continued his impressive form from the previous day, securing a spot in the quarter-finals once again.
Group B witnessed a fierce battle, mirroring the competitive spirit of the previous day. DS Penske drivers Stoffel Vandoorne and Jean-Eric Vergne asserted their dominance early on, claiming the top two positions. Porsche’s Pascal Wehrlein positioned himself between the DS duo, with Joel Eriksson of Envision also putting in a commendable performance.
However, it was Andretti who stole the show in the final moments of Group B, as world champion Jake Dennis staged a remarkable comeback, securing first place in the group, closely followed by teammate Norman Nato. Vandoorne and Wehrlein also advanced to the duel phase, while Vergne, despite being a favorite, settled for fifth place.
The stage is set for an electrifying race as the top contenders prepare to battle it out on the Berlin circuit. With Dennis leading the pack from pole position, anticipation is high for a thrilling showdown in Sunday’s Formula E race.
