The #54 Vista AF Corse Ferrari faced a massive crash as it approached the Dunlop Chicane.

In a race that started clean but soon descended into chaos, the 2024 Le Mans 24 Hours has seen its first major incidents. After 90 minutes of impeccable driving, the #54 Vista AF Corse Ferrari, driven by Thomas Flohr, suffered a massive crash entering the Dunlop Chicane. Flohr lost control under braking, sending the Ferrari into a hard impact with the barrier. The incident prompted a slow zone as marshals rushed to repair the barrier and retrieve the severely damaged car, which had completed 30 laps of the iconic Circuit de la Sarthe.

Just minutes after this dramatic incident, Robin Frijns, piloting a BMW Hypercar, also crashed in the final corners, adding to the unfolding drama on the track.

The race has been challenging for drivers, with conditions fluctuating between dry spells and sudden rain showers. Some drivers gambled by staying on slick tyres, navigating the mixed conditions with varying success.

Despite the setbacks, Ferrari maintains a strong presence at the front, with the #83 AF Corse Hypercar currently leading the race. As the race continues, all eyes are on the evolving strategies and the resilience of the teams.
