On Monday, June 3, Motorsport.com disclosed that Ducati has chosen to elevate Marc Marquez to its factory team, a move that was essentially confirmed by Aprilia’s subsequent announcement of a multi-year contract with Jorge Martin.
Entering his fifth season in MotoGP in 2025, Enea Bastianini has accumulated five race victories, 24 podium finishes, and nine pole positions. Bastianini’s remarkable 2022 season with Gresini on an older bike, which included four wins and a championship challenge, led to his promotion to Ducati’s factory team. However, he has struggled to meet the high expectations set by the Italian team.
The Pierer Mobility Group, overseeing both the factory KTM team and the Tech3 GasGas satellite team, plans to unify their branding strategy by having four RC16s in the iconic orange livery. Although Herve Poncharal, owner of the Tech3 squad, has resisted selling his team, the group’s interest in acquiring these spots has been persistent. The future of Tech3 under KTM’s new strategy remains uncertain.
With Pedro Acosta confirmed to join KTM’s factory team alongside Brad Binder in 2025, the question of who will partner Bastianini at KTM’s second squad remains. Jack Miller, whose contract with KTM ends this year after a disappointing tenure, has an uncertain future with the team. An official announcement from KTM regarding Bastianini’s signing is anticipated soon.
