Pedro de la Rosa, a seasoned Formula 1 driver with over 104 starts, has made a surprising return to the sport, driven by an immediate connection with Aston Martin. After retiring from F1 in 2014, De la Rosa found himself drawn back following a visit to Aston Martin’s Silverstone base in July 2022. There, he was impressed by the team’s future plans and the vision shared by team principal Mike Krack.
“The potential of this team is unreal,” De la Rosa said. Despite the challenges of F1, such as constant travel and time away from home, his belief in Aston Martin’s future success was unshakeable. The moment he saw their ambitious plans, he knew he wanted to be part of it.
Addressing a common misconception, De la Rosa clarified that his decision to join Aston Martin was made independently of Fernando Alonso’s signing. “When Fernando signed, I didn’t know anything about it,” he explained. “I saw the project before, and then I realized I wanted to be here.”
Now serving as an ambassador for the team, De la Rosa plays a vital role in managing PR activities for drivers Alonso and Lance Stroll, and participates in various commercial and marketing events. His return is fueled by the exciting potential he sees in Aston Martin, making his comeback to Formula 1 a testament to the team’s bright future.
