Under blazing sunshine, Formula 2 drivers geared up for their first action of the weekend. The Invicta Racing team, like many others, opted for a strategic delay, hitting the track with just 30 minutes left in the 45-minute practice session. Kush Maini initially posted a time good enough for eighth, while teammate Gabriel slotted into sixth. However, as track conditions improved, their positions dropped to 18th and 19th respectively.

With temperatures soaring to nearly 30 degrees, the 30-minute qualifying session in the afternoon became a true test of endurance and skill. The competition was fierce, with the top five drivers separated by a mere tenth of a second.

Reflecting on the intense session, Kush Maini said, “That was one of the closest qualifying sessions I can remember. When it’s such fine margins, you can lose places if you miss one apex, so I’m happy to come away with Sprint Race pole. Now we have to convert it, so I’m focused on maximizing the opportunity tomorrow and making as much progress as I can in the Feature Race on Sunday.”

As the teams prepare for the weekend’s races, all eyes will be on Maini to see if he can capitalize on his pole position in the Sprint Race and carry momentum into the Feature Race.
